Have you ever been on a journey to start something new or make a new purchase? I’m pretty sure that this is almost everyday of life for the majority of us. When ever I am struck with a new creative idea or challenge to complete I tend to turn inwards on my thoughts to figure out what are the best strategies necessary to get the job done.
When I began writing about our Twindollicious lifestyle I knew that there was a product to create at the end. However I didn’t imagine that the creativity would continue and I’d want to add product to the story in order to bring it to life. I also didn’t realize how much continuing the stories would impact V & K ‘s opinion on their lives and how they treat each other and others. It kind of became second nature for them to embrace new friends and people we’d meet for long or short term purposes. The beginning of this process was not an easy one. I didn’t have a consultant to turn to and question my rights, wrongs or mistakes. I also didn’t have a large budget to (possibly waste/or) go big! Yes there were wastes that could have been avoided but it may be part of the journey.
I’ve been wanting to create a short cut to where I am now and share it with many people. Though when given the opportunity to hear someone’s story I appreciate the journey even more. There aren’t any short cuts.
I recently received an shipment of photo books based on my Instagram story in squares from Chat books and It brought me back to the beginning of my very own journey.
Everything that you’re passionate about takes patience!
Friendships …..,,,,yes including those genuine partnerships and collaborations which enveloped into friendships took time and patience.
Hello NYC it’s snowing again! Well, it is January. V & K enjoyed another cooking experience…. this time at Eataly Downtown, NYC at Tower 4 WTC.
Their weekend cooking classes are so kid friendly. The demonstration area is set in the back kitchen in front of a huge with a great view. This weekends menu included making fresh mozzarella; which took me down memory lane to when I sat in front of a cheese factory on the Amalfi coast eating hot freshly made mozzarella – YUM
The simple ingredients are so easy to repeat:
1 gallon of milk
1 1/2 teaspoon citric acid
1/4 teaspoon non-GMO rennet dissolved in a 1/4 cup cold water
1/3 cup of salt
1 large pot for heating
1 large bowl of cold water to place the shaped mozzarella in to cool off and serve
The delicious process of creating mozzarella was so easy and fun! Once the last pinch was made and all of the balls were cool and formed the girls took 3 of their very own pieces and placed them on an icicle pop stick, 1 piece of carrot, a few sunflower seeds and 2 bread sticks to make….. a snowman . Which they did not want to eat; but instead savored on a separate piece of mozzarella.
The awesome NYC /Italian feeling can be captured At Eataly . Our downtown friends at Fidi also has a calendar for upcoming classes.
We can’t wait to share more of these fun adventures on a new project with MomLifeTV
Happy Tuesday! As the clouds have rolled in to make today a dark, rainy day we’re still feeling bright about our Sunday fun with friends. It was a perfectly bright and sunny day filled with friends, photographs, playtime, reading and a Carousel!!
This perfect place full of outdoor fun is the Brooklyn Bridge Park in Dumbo, (Brooklyn) NY. We chose this perfect location for our Twindollicious photo shoot because it was perfect combination of fun, beauty and excitement for the children. Our spring/summer collection shoot was worked by photographer Brett Martelli of http://www.martelliphotography.com/ and his wonderful crew; along with beautiful models Ligaya Murray, Majesti, Ava Belen, y’Naraly, Jayla Skye, Kennedy and Vittoria D’Anna; all for our feature in City Kids Magazine, issue 5.
The girls began on the historic cobble stone streets of dumbo, moving onto the lawn to read and share Twindollicious stories, leaving the finale shot to Janes Carousel. We can’t wait to see the full shots in the Summer release of BCK City Kids Magazine.
I’ve had many people ask why Twindollicious?! I will clarify that question by explaining that as I began this blog, created a title for the first children’s book revolving around characters Violet and Kelly (aka Vita and Kennedy) and continued by designing dresses and tshirts; I was asked where did I come up with the name Twindollicious. Well, like anything new things must grow on you, but when being questioned before its had a chance to grow there’s a moment when you say ok maybe this shouldn’t stick around. The name is a 3D word that is meaningful now and will always be. You see the girls great grandmother has always referred to them as dolls. This will always be a part of Vita and Kennedy’s life, and Twins title is simply because they’re twins. The licious part is because I, as their mom see them as being delicious, dollicious babies forever.
As we begin book 2 of the series, I was again had to ask myself of Twindollcious should remain in the title. I chose to keep it, as it has fully grown and I am most satisfied that I never changed my mind on it. We have launched a kickstarter. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/search?utf8=✓&term=Twindollicious+
We would love for all of our readers to become a part of spreading the word on this campaign by posting Twindollicious where ever you see fit!! We are 9 days in and the girls are super excited to share book 2, it’s lesson, new characters, and Title with you! Check out their personal You tube cheer!
I am so excited to share that “Any Two Can Be Twindollicious” has received a moms choice golden seal award for children’s book with values and life lessons. This story and every story that follows will express lessons to children. I would love for everyone to share the stories of Twindollicious sisters as my mission to embrace motherhood, education, fun, nurturing and growth continues. Doing the Celebration dance!
