Back to school preparation and style needs

Are you and your kiddos ready to begin the back to school hustle?

We’re holding on to the last bits of summer but are in no way in denial that school will begin very shortly.

There are so many school supply lists with must haves and trends that begin to surface in retailers starting July that we may get a bit confused. It’s always best to abide by the school supply lists (so that’s an easy task conquered) but how do we prepare and make back to school exciting.

I attended a few events in Mid summer to learn about new trends and products that may excite me and the girls for back to school.

– At the mom trends event I discovered this adorable lunch bag and pencil case that would be trendy for the girls… since Unicorns rule their universe right now.

Unicorns for them and Mabel’s Labels for me (kind of) . On my to do list from teachers and to create an easy morning for us Labels are a must on most of their books and supplies.

They loved the Unicorn style and ran with the theme! โœ…

Speaking of labels: Epson ecotank printing has an amazing new device that makes it easier to print out your magnificently designed labels. This eliminates the hours of perfect handwriting, with less stress on whether or not you’re running low on ink – let’s just print it!

I couldn’t do a Back to school preparation list without including Vamousse. If you’re not familiar with this brand; you’re welcome for the introduction. Lice is a very scary thing. It’s overwhelming and includes lots of work. We were faced with a scare in Kindergarten. The letter comes home from school that there is a case of love in the class and then the show begins. Before learning about Vamousse, my immediate reaction was to take them to the doctors office.

I couldn’t imagine where I would start. So each year I’ve prepped with rosemary shampoo and peppermint oil, hairspray etc. – I mean have you seen the hair on them x’s 2…. no thank you!

The Vamousse brand not only contains shampoo, conditioner but household products if an outbreak was to occur. They are now our go to for back to school prepping.

Back to school style includes accessories, and necessities! Many teens, tweens or younger children whom parents work late have to use cellphones. It isn’t a must have but if your child does have a device chances are their friends and others will know that they have one. We thought that it would be a great safety feature to collaborate with a company and make finger slider phone holders that are flat and less visible when in their pockets or bags. (One less reason for bullying) Cell phone Finger holders

-The sturdy hold unlike the other distracting holders allows for your other fingers to type or grip the phone better, avoiding chances of falling to the ground.

To piggy back off of the cellphone subject and the many ways that families become busier during he school year; sportsmanship for girls is always a great idea. Now is the time to figure out what extracurricular activities are of interest to them. We love the message thatAthleta girl is spreading and believe whole heartedly that team work will keep the grades up!

Style style and more style!

When choosing a back pack for school durability is first on the list. Yet, once again unicorn๐Ÿฆ„ lifestyle has to be in close proximity in order for the girls to get excited about packing those bags with books. We loved the Lands End personalized feature with monogramming and patches. The color Teal won and so did the ๐ŸŒˆ rainbow.

Though their school supply list only includes plain color folders… we couldn’t resist this collaboration with Avery and Amy Tangerine. These special folders were so exciting to them that they’ve decided to use them as their personal journal folders. They plan to carry their lunch books and clean sheets of paper with them to write during lunch… I mean don’t all third graders … ugh 3rd grade ๐Ÿ˜ญ

More than likely we will be TwinDollicious-ly twinning in style this year (Shopping haul video to come, you’ll have to watch to see) so thanks to Keds and Rifle Paper co for designing these amazing sneakers. Their new print designs include florals, decor and animals for adults to toddlers just in time for Back to school !

Pop sugar: the new playground event for all pop culture lovers

I can’t believe that it’s been over a week since we’ve walked the pop sugar playground floors. The 2 full days of pop sugar culture was amazing.

For me it brought the Pop Sugar brand to life! There was a complete umbrella of amazing talent who make our lives in beauty, fashion, lifestyle and social so much more reachable. The roster of talent included musicians, comedians (women), actresses and boss women in business. Gracing the floors of pop sugar meant that all of this experience was tangible.

V & K, my twin doll sidekicks attended and were ecstatic. We learned How to properly slide down into a ball pit and spin the wheel of luck sponsored by Kohl’s .

They were super lucky and made a double win!!

I walked away from the 2 day event with insights on growth in pop culture, what’s trending as well as a huge amount of inspiration.

My favorite part about attending empowering events such as this, is the meeting of the awesome new brands, creative people behind them and the take away experience that can be used within my own business and lifestyle.

Here are a few links to new brands that we’ve come to know and love โค๏ธ

Consulting your way to the goals

Have you ever been on a journey to start something new or make a new purchase? I’m pretty sure that this is almost everyday of life for the majority of us. When ever I am struck with a new creative idea or challenge to complete I tend to turn inwards on my thoughts to figure out what are the best strategies necessary to get the job done.

When I began writing about our Twindollicious lifestyle I knew that there was a product to create at the end. However I didn’t imagine that the creativity would continue and I’d want to add product to the story in order to bring it to life. I also didn’t realize how much continuing the stories would impact V & K ‘s opinion on their lives and how they treat each other and others. It kind of became second nature for them to embrace new friends and people we’d meet for long or short term purposes. The beginning of this process was not an easy one. I didn’t have a consultant to turn to and question my rights, wrongs or mistakes. I also didn’t have a large budget to (possibly waste/or) go big! Yes there were wastes that could have been avoided but it may be part of the journey.

I’ve been wanting to create a short cut to where I am now and share it with many people. Though when given the opportunity to hear someone’s story I appreciate the journey even more. There aren’t any short cuts.

I recently received an shipment of photo books based on my Instagram story in squares from Chat books and It brought me back to the beginning of my very own journey.

The importance of building data management

Starting a business of your own can be extremely exciting, scary, frustrating and satisfying all at once. Businesses across the country are growing from day to day. As each new business opens they are faced with the decision of how to become more marketable to their targeted audience.

Who is their targeted audience?

A major question that every business owner has to answer; but how do they come up with the correct answer to grow on. It is easy to establish an idea for a business that you’re passionate about as well as a plan to attract a market population of people, but appropriate data management should be implemented.

There are many Master data management methods used to consistently define and manage critical data. Reference data along with analytical data is created to support decision making. Creating a registry, centralized, co existence as well as consolidating a model is the beginning of a MDM platform. Overall it should provide modeling, web services, data quality, business rules, workflow, matching, survivorship, and scalability.

Whether you are building a blog, ecommerce or brick and mortar a Common MDM domain covers the categories of People (customers, employees, patients) Organizations (customers, vendors, partners) and Things (products, parts, locations).

As over whelming as it may seem to have to learn about your companies MDM; it is highly recommended.

There may be technological language that is unfamiliar but an overall understanding that applying all of your data to one file as a sustainable way to manage your business is all you need when beginning this portion of your business.

The typical master data needs of Microsoft mds that are in your industry, may include Companies that distribute finished products and have different needs than an industrial manufacturer. For example healthcare and insurance companies share common needs around provider and patients.

It’s always best to trust Master data Management companies that will put this portion of your businesses growth at ease.

Do you want to build a mozzarella snowman?

Hello NYC it’s snowing again! Well, it is January. V & K enjoyed another cooking experience…. this time at Eataly Downtown, NYC at Tower 4 WTC.

Their weekend cooking classes are so kid friendly. The demonstration area is set in the back kitchen in front of a huge with a great view. This weekends menu included making fresh mozzarella; which took me down memory lane to when I sat in front of a cheese factory on the Amalfi coast eating hot freshly made mozzarella – YUM

The simple ingredients are so easy to repeat:

1 gallon of milk

1 1/2 teaspoon citric acid

1/4 teaspoon non-GMO rennet dissolved in a 1/4 cup cold water

1/3 cup of salt

1 large pot for heating

1 large bowl of cold water to place the shaped mozzarella in to cool off and serve

The delicious process of creating mozzarella was so easy and fun! Once the last pinch was made and all of the balls were cool and formed the girls took 3 of their very own pieces and placed them on an icicle pop stick, 1 piece of carrot, a few sunflower seeds and 2 bread sticks to make….. a snowman . Which they did not want to eat; but instead savored on a separate piece of mozzarella.

The awesome NYC /Italian feeling can be captured At Eataly . Our downtown friends at Fidi also has a calendar for upcoming classes.

We can’t wait to share more of these fun adventures on a new project with MomLifeTV

Signs of growth through traditions

There are experiences, messages and moments that seem to hit home at the right time. Our recent traditional visit to Martha’s Vineyard captured memories as well as created new traditions. You see, before having the girls my love for American history and family lead me to love the Vineyard. We vowed to continue the tradition to visit yearly and we have.
This was the first year that our trip lead us to the InkWell. It may have been the presence of our blended family or our happy TwinDollicious girls that sparked conversation with full time residence, but what ever the signs were we were open to explore. I must say that There is a sacred message to be told when you’re able to connect with generations before your time. However this trip did find me at a time when I am faced to make serious professional decisions and meeting great artists such as SpikeLee, Tony Shalhoub and creative chefs of The Mast Brothers Chocolates kind of put things into perspective as a creator and founder of ourTwinDollicious brand. Here’s to a straight path of traditions , Twindollicious creativity and some fun pics

Make shift jungle gym in NYC cold

With today’s temperature at a whooping 12 degrees… These 2 baby lion Cuba have turned the guest room into their den. The monkey bars are too cold for climbing and the snow can hardly melt before it returns again. Some may say this is a big no no but we’re safely having fun and using every corner of the house to avoid cabin fever. Let’s go Spring!

Patience and Creative overload

Twindollicious is in creative overload mode! I have officially opened an etsy account ||twindollicious.etsy|| and began building this two of a kind doll like fashion for girls two pieces at a time. I guess its the wait for the release of the “Twindollicious” first series picture book; “Violet and Kelly are Twindollicious” and the possible title changes that has me in complete dress design, creative overload. Why sit around and wait when something else so twindollicious could be trending. As the older and wiser say never let the grass grow under your feet.

The Twindollicious closet is opening!

The Twindollicious closet is opening physically and mentally. As my two adorable girls grow they are learning and exploring so much. Through them I have found a new me in myself. One that dares to take more risks and push to the limit. (I hope) I hope is what the old me would say but for these two larger than life fearless doll babies I will. There are so many things that we have begun to tackle with the start of this Twindollicious brand, which I am excited about. For starters the book expo America is on the agenda for this coming May ( my first for all of you wonderful pro writers). Our fashion closet of designing is on etsy one piece at a time, listed under Twindollicious as our website is being developed. With that, I have to say that the picking comes solely from ms Kennedy the fashionista ๐Ÿ™‚ , the idea of selling at a rate of buy 1 get 1 comes from mommy and the great experience of shopping for 2, as Ms Vittoria is responsible for the beautiful packaging …she is the organized one . And lastly I will share the thrifting of our brand which many people say you probably should not do until all patents are complete, but I know that many parents will love this….and if some billionaire comes along and makes it happen than its with gods blessings ๐Ÿ™‚ …..The Closet thrifting is a place held on the site where parents can buy, sell and donate only children’s goods and clothing as in comparison to similar sites for all goods. How exciting is that when your 2 year old grows out of that Burberry jacket that she/he (x’s 2 for me) only wore once and now you have to prep for the next size or season?! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
